The default r/ethfinance banner
The branding for r/ethfinance needed to feel fresh, transparant and neutral. At the same time the community allows price discussion so it’s inevitably rocked by large movements in the market, causing waves of green and red to perpetuate through the community.
A simplified Ethereum logo blended well with the well known up & down elements of traditional price tickers, and thus they filled the wavy Ethfinance landscape.
I designed the landscape to be a highly modular grid that can be reshaped and repurposed in many ways to allow for future modifications during special events.
The r/ethfinance banner used during Devcon 5 in Osaka, Japan
Devcon 5 was to be held in Osaka, Japan. The Japanese flag wasn’t the only thing going on in this visual though, as I felt the congregation of Ethereum builders flying in from all over the world had to be translated into the banner for this event.
Marked by a brutal 2 year bearmarket, everyone got together once again to form the absolute epicenter of Ethereum for one week.

The end of 2019 wasn’t a happy time on r/ethfinance as many had a bearish outlook, but during the holidays we’ve all got each other. Even though another ice age was creeping up on the town of Ethereum, people stuck together and had a comfy holiday season.
Thankfully the people guarding the gates of the town were already working on the Muir Glacier fork – holding back the ice from advancing any further.

Ethfinance turned 1 year old, the move from Ethtrader to Ethfinance had now been a confirmed success as the new community had proven itself to be stable and an improvement over the old subreddit.
Sentiment was great, not just within Ethfinance but in the whole Ethereum community as well, there were loads of exciting new developments in the scene and markets colored green.
Ethfinance was treated with green candles and ETH-shaped confetti for its birthday!

It had been a strange year for the world, and a great year for Ethereum. A year of stark contrasts, and that's why this year in the banner, Ethfinance went camping on Hawaii.
The Hawaii meme had been circulating for a while on Ethfinance and with the community recently celebrating the launch of ETH2.0 Phase 0, it was time to visit the island of bull dreams.
Digitally hug each other by the campfire, listen to the soothing sound of waves hitting the shore and enjoy the rippling reflection of the moon on the horizon. Because that's where we are going, together.

Ethfinance turned 2 years old!
EIP-1559 had launched and Ethereum became ultra-sound. Both Ethereum and Ethfinance were once again treated with green candles!

Another great year for Ethereum! With the Beacon chain online for 1 whole year, Ethereum is steadily approaching the Merge.
In this banner we're seeing both PoW Town and the Beacon Settlement reach out to each other, the bridge is being build! The core of the community resides in PoW Town on the left side, but a handful of pioneers have already been hard at work in the Beacon settlement. Soon the bridge will be finished.. and both will Merge!
